Good Things In Small Boxes!

5B recycled Christmas cards to make special gift boxes. They needed to demonstrate their skills in following a procedure, as well as practical mathematical skills of estimating, measuring and adjusting to scale. Inside each box is a special thank you note or a Christmas gift in the form of an offer to do something special or helpful for a family member. Some of our boxes are already waiting under family Christmas trees!

Waiting in Hope and Peace

In 5B we watched the video "Advent in Two Minutes" ( http://bustedhalo.com/video/advent-in-two-minutes ) and we learned that Advent should be a peaceful season of hope and preparation, not a time to be stressed over getting ready for Christmas celebrations. These designs (inspired by http://pinterest.com/pin/7318418116024942 ) show the dove, symbol of peace and the Holy Spirit at the centre of Christmas preparations

Advent Preparations

In Year 5 we have been learning about Advent, season of waiting and preparing for Christmas, and the tradition of the Advent Wreath. Here are some of our Advent Candle designs inspired by stained glass windows

Reaching for the Skies

Congratulations on your striking creations Year 5. Looking forward to publishing more of the finished products next week.

Inspired by the works published at "There's a Dragon in My Artroom" Year 5 have been creating their own striking cityscapes using one-point-perspective, on watercolour backgrounds. Don't forget to check out our SFO's  - Surrealist Flying Objects!
